Angie tagged the airline in a furious Instagram post on Tuesday after several unsuccessful attempts to buy plane tickets so she could see her famous son take part in a swimming competition.

‘I’m overwhelmed with the extremely unprofessional business of Qantas,’ she wrote.

‘I have been on hold for 16 hours this week to be cut off every time I talk to someone to resolve an urgent issue with Cody and my flights for his upcoming swimming comp!’ she added.

‘Qantas, how do I fix this issue without losing our money?! I’m not happy.’

Daily Mail Australia has contacted Qantas and Angie Simpson for further comment.

Cody’s mother has been by her son’s side as the successful pop star attempts to launch a career in competitive swimming.

Despite narrowly missing out on his Tokyo Olympics dream last June, the musician said in October he wasn’t giving up.

Cody, who made a bold charge at Olympic glory after many years away from the pool, sadly placed last in the men’s 100-metre butterfly final during trials.

‘I was happy with my result,’ he told Men’s Health.

‘It was my goal to hit 52 seconds for the 100-metre butterfly and make the final. It was a two-edged goal, hitting that time and getting into the final, so I was very pleased and relieved when I did both of those things.’

Cody admitted he didn’t think he’d be ‘remotely competitive until at least next year at the earliest’ and had therefore exceeded his own expectations.

‘I’m content with where I’m at right now. I’ll be super happy if I can continue the rate of progression that I’ve had over the last 12 months.’
